Cathy Wilson
Integrative Psychotherapist MA, MBACP
Whether you're navigating a difficult life transition, coping with emotional distress, or seeking personal growth, therapy can be a powerful step toward healing and clarity. Starting therapy can feel daunting. Facing a specific challenge or sensing a need for deeper self-understanding often brings uncertainty, you might wonder where to begin, what to expect, or how to find someone you can truly connect with. I understand how vulnerable this process can be, Together, we can create a space where you feel heard, supported, and able to explore whatever is coming up for you.
As an Integrative Psychotherapist & Counsellor, my approach is rooted in existential and relational psychotherapy. I draw on a range of therapeutic modalities to respond to each person’s unique needs, and I believe in working collaboratively, at your pace, to help you reflect, feel heard, and begin to make sense of your experience. The goal is to support you in becoming an active agent of change in your own life.
A key part of my work is interpersonal therapy, which focuses on how your relationships impact your emotional wellbeing. It helps you understand how the way you connect with others affects how you feel and supports you in making positive changes in your relationships. Rather than focusing on the past, this therapy focuses on what’s happening in your life now, helping you notice patterns, tackle challenges, and develop new ways to communicate and connect.

I work with individuals facing a wide range of issues, including anxiety, identity, relationships, loss, and life transitions. My previous career in the fashion industry spanned over 24 years, including 12 years running my own business. This background gives me a deep understanding of high-pressure, fast-paced environments and the toll they can take on our wellbeing. It also offers useful perspective in my work, particularly when supporting clients exploring self-worth, identity, performance, and purpose.
In addition to private practice, I’ve worked with individuals living with HIV and long-term illness.
I hold an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy & Counselling (Existential) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapy & Counselling. I’m a registered member of the BACP.
My
Approach
I tailor therapy to your individual needs, working collaboratively at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Sessions often involve open conversation, reflection, and practical tools to support emotional insight and growth.
A strong, trusting therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful change. I offer a confidential and supportive space where you can safely explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. Confidentiality is respected at all times, with limits only in cases where safety may be at risk.
I work with a commitment to inclusivity and respect for diversity, and I welcome clients from all backgrounds. My practice includes working with LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent clients, and I aim to provide a space that honours your identity and experience.
I offer both in-person and online sessions, with flexibility for longer-term therapy (six months or more) or shorter-term work, depending on your needs.
Whether you’re new to therapy or returning, I’m here to support you in understanding your experiences and moving forward in a way that feels empowering and meaningful to you.
Existential
Relational
Existential psychotherapy is a space to explore what it means to be you, how you relate to life, the choices you make, and what gives your life meaning. Rather than focusing just on symptoms or labels, this approach looks at your experience as a whole and how you navigate the challenges that come with being human. It’s not about “fixing” you, but about helping you gain clarity, reconnect with your values, and move forward with more intention and authenticity.
Internal Family Systems
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy helps you get to know the different parts of yourself, those voices or feelings inside that sometimes conflict or cause distress. Instead of judging these parts, IFS invites you to understand and listen to them with compassion. This approach supports healing by bringing harmony between these inner parts, helping you feel more balanced, aware, and at peace within yourself.
Common Symptoms
& Issues
Relational psychotherapy recognises that the relationships we’ve had, both in the past and now, deeply shape how we see ourselves and connect with others. It’s based on the idea that we grow and heal through meaningful connection, and the therapeutic relationship itself becomes a space where new ways of relating, understanding, and being can emerge.
Somatics
Somatic therapy focuses on the connection between your mind and body. It helps you become aware of how stress and emotions are held in your body and supports you in releasing tension and trauma. This approach encourages healing by helping you listen to your body and find a greater sense of calm and balance.
